Mission Statement
“Are you a Great dentist”.
Now isn’t that a question you wish you could ask your dentist?! Often when we get a phone call at Absolutely Dental @ Kirwan Plaza, we can sense this is what the person on the other end really wants to know! Afterall, why should you trust us with taking care of your teeth and those of your family? You don’t know anything about the dentist. But of course, if you ask the receptionist if the dentist is great, of course they are going to answer yes.
Like everybody else, my teeth still need regular care to keep them healthy and make them as attractive as possible. So like everybody else, I go to the dentist to receive many of the procedures that I deliver to my patients.
When I was envisioning what kind of practice I would have, it occurred to me that the kind of dentistry I wanted to give to my patients was the same as the kind of dentistry I would like to receive. And being a dentist I have some pretty high standards when it comes to my teeth.
I would want my dentist to see me as an individual, to get to know me personally and not just treat me as a number or the “next patient”. I would want my dentist to foster this relationship and respect me as a person and the decisions I make for myself.
Although I am as brave as the next person, I’d prefer to experience as little discomfort as possible during my visit. I want my dentist to be empathetic and show genuine concern for my comfort before, during and after my treatment. I would also want my dentist to have mastered pain free dental techniques.
Maybe I’m a bit spoiled, but I get a bit irritated if I have to do a lot of waiting. I’d much prefer it if my dentist and staff were ready for me when I arrived.
I value quality before price. I am even willing to pay a little more if I am receiving top of the line treatment. These are the only teeth I’ll ever have, so I wouldn’t choose my dentist just because his fees were the lowest. I would choose a dentist who could provide me with the highest level of care, which is what I feel I deserve. I would appreciate someone who is painstakingly accurate in all the details of my treatment.
So what I want as a dental patient is what I hope you want, because the result of this kind of treatment is my true goal – optimal dental health and appearance.
If this is the kind of care you are looking for, I’d be happy to be your dentist. These are the standards we hold ourselves to. But even if you are not quite ready for optimal treatment, for any number of reasons, I am still happy to see you, fix any urgent concerns you have (like a painful tooth) and try to maintain your dental health until such time you are ready. I want to be the right kind of dentist for you!
I look forward to meeting you soon.

Importance of Regular Visits
Pain is a very poor indicator of dental health. I see many patients with toothaches and it’s usually the same reason ” I broke that tooth a while ago but it wasn’t painful so I left it. But now its really sore………how do we fix it Doc?”
Unfortunately now, it’s no longer a simple problem with a simple solution. Now we have to place a very deep filling that has a high risk of requiring a root canal treatment or the tooth is abscessed (infected) and needs endodontics or removal. So if you know you have a problem, even if it’s not painful, it’s a good idea to get it fixed before it starts hurting. It will save you time (shorter procedure), pain (you avoid that toothache) and money (simple procedures cost less than complex ones) and possibly save your tooth!
Good dental hygiene is one of those things that we all know is a healthy thing to do, but it is also easy to put it off or simply not take the time to do correctly.
As well as preventing dental problems, poor oral health has been linked increased risk of heart disease, strokes, diabetes (type 2), miscarriage and premature low weight babies.
So regular visits :
Prevents cavities, which can lead to root canals or missing teeth
Prevents bad breath
Keeps periodontal disease at bay which means you keep your teeth longer
Keeps your smile looking healthy and great, which means you’re more self-confident, too
May help prevent other health problems, as some studies have found a link between advanced gum disease and heart problems, diabetes and strokes.
May play a role in preventing or detecting some oral cancers (especially when it comes to getting those regular exams)
Basics of Good Dental Hygiene
Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Do not rinse. Just spit out the excess toothpaste
Brush for at least two or three minutes every time.
Replace your toothbrush every three months.
Floss between teeth at least once a day. Remember brushing alone doesn’t clean all the surfaces of your teeth
Make an appointment with one of our dentists twice a year, unless you have a condition that requires more frequent exams.
Eat a balanced, low-sugar and low-acid diet, when possible.
Do not smoke.
